Grief is an intense sadness stemming from a loss you have suffered. While grief is often characterized as sorrow, it also encompasses a flurry of other feelings such as numbness, anger, guilt, despair, hostility and anxiety.
The appearance and duration of grief differs greatly from one person to another, and each experience is unique and different. There is no single, or right, way to grieve.
If you are grieving, the support and guidance of a therapist is helpful to:
UNDERSTAND
the nature of your grief, loss, and related concerns
RECOGNIZE responses that may be prolonging your grieving
SUPPORT your personal needs and learn to cope in a society where you are encouraged to "get over it," and "move on"
EMBRACE
new thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and attitudes to help you transform your pain into positive change
Grief can sometimes be a lonely journey. Dr. Perper understands the pain of feeling alone in the process and knows the value of speaking with someone who more or less "gets it." Dr. Perper is available to provide you a safe place to express yourself openly and honestly. You will receive professional support that will help you navigate grief in your own unique way, in your own unique time.
